Some words about the show from my old friend in New York Dan Jarqio :
Anyone familiar with Mike Maka’s work already knows what kind of trip to expect. This iteration of Mike’s virtuosity brilliantly pops with cyclical themes of life, death, growth and decay amidst the natural and technological world, chaos and order, consciousness and superconsciousness. Whereas previous work left one sated with digestible eye-candy in one bite, this time around is like an Iron Chef showdown more tightly packaged and served up fresh. Bon appetit.
A few canvas ready for this show,
Circle Ring Skull:
I’ve been painting bees around everywhere for over a year, which seem to go well in abandoned warehouses and random weird shaped walls or small spaces, but never really knew how to put them onto canvases, so I’ve been experimenting with casting resin and painting in and pouring 4 layers. ( 4 dimensions ) These are the 1st in boxes of a few resin casts. Proper photos to come.
A friend made this fun video of a wall I painted with some friends in a harbour in Rio de Janiero … enjoy
